Matariki at Tākou Kauri Sanctuary - Open Day

Ngāti Rēhia invites you to a special open day celebrating Matariki at Takou Kauri Sanctuary.

This is a chance to reconnect with te taiao, reflect on those who’ve passed, and plant new hopes for the year ahead.

Pōwhiri and Activities
9:30 AM – Pōwhiri / Whakatau

10:00 AM – Activities Begin
- Taonga species planting
- Hīkoi around tracks and beach
- Boat ride up the awa
- Guided visits to Orongo Pā and the lookout pad
- Learn from our Hāpu Rangers as they share the mahi restoring this sacred whenua

12:30 PM –Hāngī lunch provided

2:00 PM – He Whakamutunga / Closing
