The Waiting * Pinhole Photography Exhibition
While we are waiting, things are unfolding. This idea is at the heart of the pinhole photographs of Séverine Morizet.
As her camera opens to light, Séverine slips into the model’s skin and inhabits a pose for the duration of an introspective voyage. In relative stillness, she enters a state of reverie, anchored only by the act of being physically there: I am here, but I am elsewhere.
Time, as it passes, slowly leaves a trace, still invisible, uncertain. From the alchemy of emptiness, shadow, and light, a reflection emerges, a facet of the self shaped by inner perception.
This exhibition invites viewers to wander and absorb the intimate, poetic atmosphere of self-portraits created with the pinhole camera, photography’s most primitive tool. Each photo is a passage. A threshold between outward gesture and inner state. Between presence and becoming. Waiting, here, is a form of attention that listens. A process that welcomes the unexpected.
Séverine Morizet is a French artist and graphic designer.
She moved to Porto in 2017, where she discovered pinhole photography. A medium she became passionate about, as it allows her to explore reality through a different relationship with time. Her work has been featured in various photography festivals in Portugal. The Waiting is her third exhibition in Porto.
