NEXT ARTISANS: Lacquer Design & Woodworking

Step into the world of traditional Japanese craftsmanship with two gifted artisans from Kyoto:

- Hana Ishizeki, a lacquerware specialist trained at the Traditional Arts Super‑College of Kyoto (TASK). Hana creates intricate Makie lacquer designs, and currently applies her learned artistry to elegant, modern bento boxes.

- Miki Annen, a woodworking artist and TASK junior. With roots in her family’s log home and extensive hands‑on training, Miki masters both machine and hand‑joinery to produce beautifully crafted wooden creations.

During the evening, both artisans will:

- Demonstrate authentic Japanese lacquer and woodworking techniques
- Share their artistic journeys, passion, and dedication
- Engage in a Q&A—an exceptional chance to dive deeper into their craft
