Since 1892, Music in the Parks has provided residents and families opportunities to gather and enjoy local music throughout the summer. Since its inception thousands of free concerts have taken place. Concerts are weekly and vary from classic rock, hip hop, international, funk and many more genres of music.

This week at the Lake Harriet Bandshell we are hosting Katy Tessman, who describes their style as "captivating americana with heartfelt songwriting." Katy Tessman is making her mark in the local singer-songwriter music scene with heartfelt songwriting and an optimistic spirit. Her latest album, Fly, blends the raw authenticity of Americana with the storytelling charm of urban folk, earning praise from RnR Magazine as "a quietly inspiring pleasure." Drawing from her journey through cancer survival, heartbreak, and motherhood, her songs celebrate life’s challenges and triumphs. Ann Treacy of Mostly Minnesota calls her "a great storyteller" whose songs feel like "warm encouragement." A Minneapolis native, Katy is also an award-winning children’s book author and a celebrated CHANGEMAKER by Minnesota Women's Press. For cancellations due to weather please check our Facebook or Instagram pages for updates.
