Taking place the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Brighton Farmers Market, these family-friendly concerts present an eclectic soundscape of live music that include dance, juggling, and demonstrations.
This summer's lineup includes two acts every night and features local performers in everything from bluegrass, reggae, folk, salsa to Latin hip-hop, garage rock and Afrobeat and more!
August 13: Chinese Joyful Band and Juan Nieves & Legado Ensemble
Yun Thwaits studied Pipa since she was 7 yrs old. Dehua Zhen is a famous musican in southern part of China and can play several Chinese traditional instruments and has been for over 50 years. They are principal payers of the Boston Chinese Musicians Association. Since its establishment in 2014, the association has held several concerts in the Massachusetts and Boston areas and communities, and has been well received by their audience.
Juan Nieves is a Puerto Rican Cuatro instrumentalist, band leader, producer and arranger. Maintaining the legacy of the Puerto Rico’s national instrument throughout the world, Juan Nieves keeps the folkloric Puerto Rican musical tradition alive. His cuatro, the national instrument of Puerto Rico, has accompanied him in more than 15 countries worldwide. Throughout his 25-year career, Juan has produced three albums and many singles. His music has been featured in various films, and he has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Richie Ray and Bobby Cruz, Ismael Miranda, Tony Succar, and more. Juan is the fifth cuatro player to graduate from Berklee College of Music. Juan leads his own projects, “Juan Nieves & Orquesta Legado” and “Legado Records.”
