From Darian O'Reilly:
As a child, I strongly identified with Cyd Charisse’s character in Singin’ in the Rain. Cyd Charisse only appears in the dream sequences, but her presence is crucial, serving as a foil to Debbie Reynold’s dopey affect and allowing Gene Kelly to finally express some virility. It seemed to me that Charisse’s character could control men with the articulations of her hips and shoulders. With that message firmly imprinted in my psyche, I opted to study the powerful mind control techniques of dance, focusing particularly on the thrusting maneuverings of the pelvis. I studied jazz, West African dance, hip hop, swing dance, contact improvisation, and modern dance. Somehow I found a home in modern dance, and I enjoy wearing loose-fitting t-shirts with the neck holes cut out. After twenty-five years of training, I feel I have finally honed the potentials of magic within and around my thorax.

I currently work as a performer, choreographer, teacher, and curator in Los Angeles. I teach yoga, make original dances, as well as consult as creative director and choreographer for music videos, film, and television.

Some institutional creds:
