Pageant - A Sesquicentennial in the Making

Fur Babies Pet Care is hosting Reed City's Sesquicentennial Pageant on Friday July 18th and winners will ride in the Sesquicentennial Grand Parade on Saturday July 19th.

Our Queen, aged 15 years to 19 years old. Will be crowned by our former Reed City Pageant Queen Linda Vansickle. We Will also be in search of a King aged 18-14 years old and also a Miss/Mister king and queen. Ages for Miss and Mister are Girls, 10-14 years and Boys 13-10years. Lastly a little Miss and little Mister ages 6-9 for girls and 7-9 for boys. we made the categories to allow 2 extra years for the girls to compete in the pageant.

Contestants we'll compete in a runway walk talent, show and public speaking Q&A' s. Judges will score each Contestant, and we will conclude the pageant with a grand Crowning Ceremony Friday night.

Our runway will consist of Contestants taking a stride down the walkway, wearing an outfit that best describes them! Show off your personality and individual style by showcasing that outfit. This can be through casual wear or formal, just choose something that best describes you!

Our Talent portion will consist of showing off your best talent, Artwork or a show and Tell Item. Each Contestants will be allowed a time slot to showcase their finest ability, confidence or creativity.
Our Q&A public speaking portion. Contestants will be asked a pre-approved question. Judges will judge Contestants on ability to speak, confidence and knowledge of the question. Don't panic each Contestant will receive a list of questions that may be asked prior to the event. This will allow them the opportunity to practice and gain the confidence we're looking for. During the Q&As Contestants must wear formal wear. Their nicest outfit they may have at home.

This event is taking place right downtown Reed City. Our permit is for the 200 block of Upton. We are inviting our Contestants to get ready and change over in the 200 block of Upton Businesses. Each age group will get a business to report too between Fur babies pet care and H&S companies. We are planning to set up staging in front of Ivy Rehab, so that spectators can bring their lawn chairs and sit on the closed street facing Ivy Rehab to view the stage. There will be parking for the event in the 24-hour parking lot behind Hometown Pharmacy.

The pageant starts at 630pm to 8pm and our crowing ceremony at 8pm to 815pm.

The Goodies! Each Contestant is going to pay a $40 registration fee and what the $40 gets you is a $10 donation to the Reed City's Veteran's Memorial Park. $10 of that also goes to a commemorative t-shirt keepsake. The rest of that goes into a general fund. This year's general fund will purchase goodie bags, gift certificates and each Contestants will take home a medal. Winners! Winners will take home crowns, Sashes and a gift basket.
Business sponsors. BELLA SEBASTIAN Hair is offering hair curling discounts to all our contestants that call and make an appointment. You must mention the pageant to get the discount. MP Branded is gifting a professional photograph with their Sash and crown to the Queen of the pageant. Fur Babies Pet Care is gifting out some summer fun with a Intex 10ft by 30 inches pool with pump included for those hot summer days we have left. Also gifting some Intex River Run Lounges for small winner categories. The big treat will be our Former Pageant Queen Linda Vansickle winner passing off tradition by crowning the new 2025 Sesquicentennial Queen. Securing their spot in Reed City history! 150th only happens once!

The following day Paris auto is gifting use of some vehicles to Ride in for the Grand Parade showcase. We will ask winners to wear their crowns and sashes and ride in the event.

You can also email registration forms back by taking a photo of the filled-out form and sending it via email or text. Fur Babies business number is 231-349-9233.
