Terror Talks: Witch! Remembering Ireland's Witch Hunts & Witch Trials

CALLING ALL NECROMANCERS!

Join Alternative Ulstours' 'Master of the Macabre' Andrew Johnston for an illustrated Terror Talk on the horrific history of Irish witch hunts and witch trials.

Andrew will conjure tales of persecuted 'wise-women' and 'demoniacs' spanning more than 500 years, from Dame Alice Kyteler - the first recorded person condemned for witchcraft in Ireland - to Ireland's 'last witch', Bridget Cleary - murdered by her own family.

The night will remember the accused and the accusers, the trials and the mobs, the burnings and the hangings.

The talk will also examine how ancient Celtic rituals of the supernatural clashed with imported religious beliefs, fermenting a brew of fear, mistrust and violence.

So, come along to the iconic Sunflower Public House, buy a drink, pull up a seat and let Andrew take you back to when 'witches' cast a spell over Ireland...
