The Body Is Only Light is the latest album from saxophonist Carlo Muscat, recorded in Kyiv during wartime. The album, comprising Ukrainian musicians Kostiantyn Ionenko (bass) and Dmytro Lytvynenko (drums), shows the trio weaving a powerful, emotional story of resilience, freedom, and hope. Through expressive, open-ended improvisation, the music offers a moving reflection on the human spirit in the face of adversity.

On Saturday, 19th July, Muscat will present the music from this album for the first time on the island, joined by Daniel Sant on piano, Oliver Degabriele on bass, and Ġużè Camilleri on drums. The album was released on the 25th of October 2024 on the American label ears&eyes Records, and has since been presented live in Manitoba, New York City, London, Kyiv, Lviv, and Berlin.
