Imperialism in the Twenty-First Century

Imperialism is a concept that has been theorised and debated by Marxists for over a century. As global geopolitics shifts with the rise of China, the war in Ukraine, and the genocide in Gaza, imperialism is being hotly debated once again. Also noteworthy is the rise of the Sahel Alliance in opposition to Western imperialism in Africa. In this presentation Josephine Varghese will introduce her approach to understanding imperialism in the twenty-first century, and she will also argue that anti-imperialism should be a key pillar of socialist organising not only in the global South but also in the West.
