'Are You Answering the Call of God?'

I believe for the most part, the church has misunderstood the words 'call and calling.' The result; the Great Commission Jesus gave to all of His followers is attempted by a handful. In Paul’s opening words to the Corinthian church he describes himself as ‘called to be an apostle,’ (which is not the aggrandized title many ministers use it to be today) then he goes on to describe the church as those who are ‘called to be holy’ to gather with all those everywhere who ‘call’ on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ... All three uses of the word ‘Call’ are from the same word in the original language of the Bible. It’s the same word in Eph 4:1 and it has the general meaning of ‘invitation or summons, to call someone’. So, I tell you the question that is set before the church should not be, ‘Who is called?’ or ‘Have you been called?’ I think rather, it should be ‘Will you respond to the call of God on your life?’ Join us at Highland Park Assembly this Sunday, as Pastor Tim helps everyone in the church to understand who is and is not called… and what it means.
