A talk on bird conservation in the Glen of the Downs

Dick Coombes is a seasoned birdwatcher and conservationist based in Delgany, Co. Wicklow. He worked with BirdWatch Ireland for over two decades, coordinating the Countryside Bird Survey (CBS), a vital citizen‑science programme tracking Ireland’s breeding bird populations since 1998. Now retired, Dick remains a leading advocate for woodland bird conservation. Dick will speak about the immense benefits that habitat restoration in places like the Glen of the Downs could deliver for species like the Great Spotted Woodpecker and Wicklow rarities like Spotted Flycatcher and Pied Flycatcher.
