World Camera Day

To mark World Camera Day, there will be a special opening of the St Monans camera museum, which contains over 3000 cameras.
The date honours the pioneering work of Joseph Nicéphore Niépce, who created the first known permanent photograph, using a camera obscura and a process called heliography.
While it's generally accepted that this took place on June 29th, it's not known for sure whether it was 1826 or 1827!
