Portland Funeral Services and Portland District Health with help from HBH Legal will be hosting "Dying to Know Day" on Thursday, 7th August 2025 at the Portland Golf Club.
Dying to Know Day has been a national day of action, originally on August 8 extending throughout the month of August with hundreds of hosts around Australia holding gatherings aimed to normalise conversations about death, dying and grief, encouraging individuals to learn about, discuss, and plan for their own end-of-life, and to support others in doing the same.
We welcome these meaningful conversations in any location or setting.
The day will feature speakers covering various aspects related to end-of-life:
Cam Smith (from Portland Funeral Services) will talk about pre-need aspects and the convenience of Pre-Arrangements, Pre-Paid Funerals, and Bonds.
JoAnna Spurge (from Portland District Health) will cover topics such as Palliative Care and Advance Care Planning.
Julia Ray (from HBH Legal) will discuss the importance of Wills, Power of Attorney, and choosing a good executor.
In addition to these presentations, there will be information and displays from local business’ indirectly associated with end of life.
Eg: florists, celebrants, caterers, or venue owners etc.
This is a free event with supper provided.
