Rev. Dr. Ron Sturgis, Captain (retired), Chaplain, U.S. Navy. Ron is a retired Navy Chaplain. Ron served 33 years in the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, and Marines. During college summers, Ron was a ranger at Philmont Scout Ranch near Red River, New Mexico. Ron has a B.S. in Psychology from the University of West Florida, a Master of Divinity degree from New Orleans Seminary, a Master of Theology degree from Duke University and a PhD in Psychology from Northcentral University. Ron is an ordained minister with the United Church of Christ and has extensive experience as a pastoral care giver in a myriad of venues.

The Sturgis family (Ron, Laura and son Ronald) are members of Mountain Light and enjoy traveling and outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, tennis, and swimming. Ron also enjoys riding his motorcycle and playing guitar when he has spare time. The Sturgis family lives full time in Panama City Beach Florida for their son to swim and go to school. They maintain their home in Ellijay for vacations and plan to go back and forth every few months after Ronald leaves for college in Fall 2026.
