Annual reading of the Declaration of Independence

In holding with a long-standing annual tradition in Winnebago County, Sheriff John Matz will once again be reading the Declaration of Independence on the steps of the historic Winnebago County Courthouse Friday, July 4th, 2025, promptly at 8:00am.

Please consider attending this time-honored tradition. There is plenty of time to walk downtown for the parade afterwards.
