PETER HUNT & BAND

Singer/songwriter, trumpeter and guitarist Peter Hunt plays with his band at Stef and Co. on Saturday July 26th, generating a basket of groove that’ll carry his songs for their pleasurable reception. Being the central member of the larger group Kooii, the group merges some of the energy and sound of Kooii with the more intimate way that Peter shares when playing with smaller groups. The group translates his Soul-Jazz, African and Celtic inspired sound and songwriting and leaves space for the music to go where it wants to.
The group features members that share the Byron Shire as home. Linden Lester, also a member of Kooii and the group The Imprints, on bass, holds the songs with his wisdom and wealth of groove. Keyboardist Conor Alexander, member of the shining and emerging group the Seeding, threads his wonder and sense of neo-soul through the sound. Returning to Stef & Co. after sharing his style and soulful Islander influenced songs with us earlier this year, Bobby Alu shall be on drums. He helps all in the room easily find their feel-good groove.
The character of the songs emanate from the intriguing rhythmical sense Peter has on guitar and how he lets his imagination play through the patterning of chords that envelope his voice and reflect his lyricism. It all tends to a state of naturally being and seeking and finding belonging. Along the way he exchanges guitar for the trumpet, the instrument through which you hear his ‘voice’ amplified in the tone of the horn and his feeling and imagination expand the conversation in the music.
