Green arrow to Lumley Hill sunset hike 🌅
Meeting at the car park at the end of Bel Air drive Whitfield at 1:50pm to set off at 2pm.
Make sure to bring:
Head torch for the walk out
Some snacks for the sunset
Water
Jacket or something warm
Anything else you require
This is a well marked undulating track that follows a ridge line. It has a short uphill section at the beginning. It is around 6km all up.
There are spectacular views over the airport from the top of Lumley hill. There is another lookout on the track just before Mt Whitfield, that also has great views over Cairns and out to Gordanvale.
Upon returning to the official start of green arrow, we can sit and look out over Redlynch and watch the sunset. It is best to stay for another 30 mins to watch the last light when all the best colours appear. From there it is a short walk back down the hill to the cars. We may get to see the odd fire fly as well.
This will be weather dependent, as if it is rainy, we will not see much at all.
