Learn to start weaving on a rigid heddle loom. In the first session participants will warping up and start weaving a simple two colour scarf, learning how to make a well tensioned warp, space the warp, hemstitch, weave and neatly change between colours.
At the second session, participants will learn how to finish off their weaving. Then it's time to plan the next warp! Participants can bring their own yarns and ideas to step through the process of designing a warp, calculating yarn usage, determining sett and choosing which heddle to use.
In the third session, participants can warp their looms again, weave, or troubleshoot any issues they've encountered.
This is a slow paced and relaxed workshop. Kate is also a fan of accessible weaving. If you find any part of warping or weaving physically or mentally challening she can help find ways to make things easier.
Held over 3 Saturdays 10am-2:30pm (30 min lunch), August 23, 30 and September 6.
