Art as Life and Its Influences: A Proposition for Life Art
Presented by Jon Keppel
SPACES
July 2, 2025
This presentation is the culmination of a lifetime-to-date really but in specific it is the result of an opening that creator Jon Keppel went through in 2018 when he entered back into library work as a developing artist. This talk gives a brief overview of the history of art from the cave paintings of Lascaux to the present day looking at a thread of development from art as object to art as concept to now art as person, lives and just simply life itself. This presentation focuses in on the Western historical canon's point of reference and then transcends that taking things from art world to world art, exploring what it means to be life art and a life artist in the 21st Century.
A roughly 30-minute recording of a PowerPoint presentation will be screened at SPACES on Wednesday evening, July 2nd, 2025, starting at 6pm followed by Q&A and open discussion with Jon Keppel. Creative, reflective prompts will be handed out to attendees who wish to go further in creating a more artful, Loving life.
