In the ’70s and ’80s, Herzog directed a wide variety of 45-minute documentaries for German television. Subjects range from Alpine hikers and ski jumpers to angry church ministers and auctioneers. All embody Herzog’s awe of nature and the fringes of society. Finally restored, the films included are The Dark Glow of the Mountains, God’s Angry Man, La Soufrière, How Much Wood Would a Woodchuck Chuck, and The Great Ecstasy of Woodcarver Steiner.
