Originally from Racine, Wisconsin, π€ππšπ¦ π‘π¨π πžπ«π¬ was fortunate enough to travel to New Orleans regularly from the age of 9 years old. Through his parents, he was exposed to the rich musical tapestry of the city β€” from piano progenitors such as π‘±π’†π’π’π’š 𝑹𝒐𝒍𝒍 𝑴𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒐𝒏, through pioneers like 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒓 π‘³π’π’π’ˆπ’‰π’‚π’Šπ’“, 𝑨𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏 π‘»π’π’–π’”π’”π’‚π’Šπ’π’•, and 𝑫𝒓. 𝑱𝒐𝒉𝒏, to the many contemporary players still innovating around the city today.

Adam’s main drive and inspiration, however, came from the syncopated stylings of turn-of-the-century ragtimers such as 𝑺𝒄𝒐𝒕𝒕 π‘±π’π’‘π’π’Šπ’, 𝑺𝒄𝒐𝒕𝒕 π‘―π’‚π’šπ’…π’†π’, 𝑱𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒑𝒉 π‘³π’‚π’Žπ’ƒ, and π‘³π’π’–π’Šπ’” π‘ͺπ’‰π’‚π’–π’—π’Šπ’. He plays a wide array of compositions mostly from the β€œgolden age” of ragtime β€” 1899 to 1914 β€” and occasionally takes a foray into the more contemporary music of β€œJass” from the post-WWI era.

Adam recorded with a big band jazz ensemble at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. During his high school years, he also volunteered at WWOZ for special events, including their annual Piano Night celebration, where he was also invited to play as an amateur performer, kicking off a night of music carried by veterans of New Orleans piano such as 𝑱𝒐𝒆 π‘²π’“π’π’˜π’, π‘΄π’‚π’“π’„π’Šπ’‚ 𝑩𝒂𝒍𝒍, π‘»π’π’Ž π‘΄π’„π‘«π’†π’“π’Žπ’π’•π’•, 𝑱𝒐𝒔𝒉 𝑷𝒂𝒙𝒕𝒐𝒏, π‘¬π’…π’…π’Šπ’† 𝑩𝒐, π‘«π’‚π’—π’Šπ’… π‘»π’π’“π’Œπ’‚π’π’π’˜π’”π’Œπ’š, 𝑨𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏 π‘»π’π’–π’”π’”π’‚π’Šπ’π’•, 𝑫𝒓. 𝑱𝒐𝒉𝒏, and many more. One year, Adam was on the bill with another up-and-coming talent β€” still in middle school at the time β€” π‰π¨π§πšππ‘πšπ§ 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐒𝐬𝐭𝐞.

His background has included playing piano at various hotel lobbies and private functions, as a street musician in Jackson Square, and just about any place with a piano that needs attention.
