The walk route explores historic St. Cloud, called the Soldier City as it was founded in 1909 as a retirement community for Civil War Union veterans. The Sugar Belt Railway was opened in 1888 but the sugar crops were later ruined in The Great Freeze of 1895. St. Cloud was incorporated as a city in 1915. The Veterans Memorial Park is filled with military artifacts, perfect for a Veterans Day Photo Op.
After the walk, enjoy a hot dog lunch for $5. Look for a flier with registration form by mid-Jul.
NOTE: Walk start is in shelter 2; drive .2 mile past playground entrance to parking lot at Lakeshore Blvd. & Illinois Ave. See map.
