Johnny Batchelor Party & Hovering Spooks at M'ville Bowlo

This will be epic ... I'd come for Phil's poster alone but you also get two great popmiester bands that suit any persuasion: dancing, revelling, grooving in your seat, toppling the dominant hegemony, forgetting your troubles ... or standing down the back casting tautological jibes - it's rock and roll paradise! And if that wasn't enough: it's early; free and at the Marrickville Bowlo.

Johnny Batchelor's new band will be playing tunes from his just released album, those songs having received widespread radio airplay in NY, LA, London and elsewhere, showing up on many indie-radio charts, with his homemade videos achieving more than 520K YouTube views so far. Plus, there will be some choice re-workings of ye oldie Dropbears' tracks. Lookout for JB's latest release, "Ain't Nobody" ... yes, a sultry cover of Chaka Khan's classic.

And if you haven't sought out The Hovering Spooks' gorgeous single "Andy Says", you haven't been paying attention. The Spooks play psychedelic-post-punk-power-pop-art-rock. The band members have been an integral part of the Australian indie music scene since the late seventies as live performers and recording artists.
The Spooks are rapidly building a following at gigs around Sydney and are about to record an album of new material.
- Bruce “Cub” Callaway - Guitar and Vocals
- Paul Larsen - Drums and Vocals
- Richard Burgman - Guitar and Vocals
- Phil Hall - Bass and Vocals
Their CVs are too long to list, but as The Barman said in his recent I-94 Bar review of The Spooks “the bands that their members haven’t played in can be accommodated on the big end of a pin ... if that’s not enough underground star power for you, go form your own supergroup.”
