Judge Ben Hall McFarlin will share Jack Hinson's rifle with visitors of the RCHS Ransom School House on Saturday, July 12, 2025. NO FORMAL PRESENTATION. THE RIFLE WILL BE ON EXHIBIT FOR ALL TO SEE! YOU DON'T HAVE TO STAY THE WHOLE TIME...JUST COME AND VISIT AND LEAVE WHEN YOU LIKE!

Jack Hinson of Dover, Tennessee was never a man with whom to trifle.

The judge shared how two of Hinson’s sons were murdered by Federal occupation troops during the Civil War and how Hinson exacted his own form of revenge.

McFarlin also shared how the rifle ended up in Rutherford County, more specifically in the hands of the Woodfin and McFarlin family.
This rifle has also has historical ties to Nathan Bedford Forrest. What better weekend to share the rifle than N.B.F.'s Birthday, which is that weekend in July!

Parking is limited in our lot, but we have overflow parking in the church behind the Historic Ransom School House and the grass empty lot across the street from the Ransom.
