Get ready for an exciting adventure into the depths of nature! The Khabane Cave Explorer Walk 2025 is a thrilling outdoor event designed for explorers, nature enthusiasts, and adventure lovers.

The Khabane Cave Explorer Walk is an annual one-day hiking event scheduled to take place at the end of June each year at Mlawula Nature Reserve. In response to the growing demand for organized hiking events in the country as a means to promote health and fitness, the event offers a unique hiking experience that highlights both natural and cultural heritage. Participants have the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature while enjoying breathtaking views of the Lubombo Mountains.

The historical significance of Khabane Cave is also showcased during the event, as it is linked to the Dlaminis who utilized the cave as a strategic defense mechanism. The phrase ‘Wena lowacedza Lubombo ngek’hlehletela’ encapsulates the effectiveness of their defensive strategy.

The Cave was first occupied by the earliest inhabitants of the Kingdom, the San-Bushman "Batfwa". It is believed to have been used for refuge during Dlamini migrations from the Maputo River area towards the Pongola Valley in the mid-1700s.

The inaugural edition of the Khabane Cave Explorer Walk was hosted by ENTC on June 25th, 2023, with the primary goal of raising awareness about the cave and educating participants about its cultural significance. The event featured a diverse range of entertainment options, including hiking, aerobics, and challenge games, catering to the interests of corporate groups and individuals alike.
