This summer, Studio Moonfall will be joined by guest local and independent authors. Come see the books by the friends we carry in our brick and mortar bookstore at 5031 7th Avenue.
Visit the Studio Moonfall booth on July 26th to meet author Marc McGowan!
Marc McGowan is an American fantasy-horror writer and comic creator whose Hell’s Awakening Saga combines angels, demons, and the undead with razor-sharp action. His novels—"Hell’s Embrace", "A Fox’s Choice", "A Fox’s Lament", and "When the Demons Mourn"—have earned a devoted following across the United States, Europe, and Australia, and now inspire the ongoing *Hell’s Embrace* comic series. Away from the page, McGowan has spent more than twenty years in criminal justice, mentoring high-risk juvenile offenders; that “big-brother” role grounds his fiction’s moral complexity and fuels characters like Mandrake, the supernatural assassin starring in his forthcoming short story.
A lifelong martial artist, McGowan holds black belts in four combat systems and is a fifth-degree black belt in Banzenkan Aiki-Ninjutsu—the highest-ranking person of color in that elite organization. The discipline of the dojo, paired with literary heroes James O’Barr and Erik Larsen, drives his relentless quest to make each book sharper than the last.
Fans know McGowan for energetic convention appearances, generous “fan-service” twists, and the simple joy he takes in signing a well-loved paperback. His ultimate dream is to see *Hell’s Embrace* adapted for film or television, showcasing its fearless female protagonist on screen. Off duty you’ll find him immersed in old-school NWA wrestling, anime, or Pearl Jam playlists, always competing not against others but against yesterday’s version of himself. McGowan defines success as being the voice people seek for guidance and, above all, being remembered not for toughness or talent but for kindness. He still has many stories to tell.
