8th July in the green room. Bring something to nibble and drink if you wish.
This play is to show the effects of dementia on a person but also on the family & close friends. Background - My sister-inlaw, Claire, who got this disease in her late 40’s and eventually died at 60 in Jan 2025. A lot of the story is what she went through and her close family but I also interviewed around 25 people, doctors, nurses and families including my own brother. The play is dedicated to Claire
Synopsis -
Doris is a lady in her mid 60s, she is married and has four grown children and a few grandchildren. She is a very direct character, she believes in honesty and hard work. Her memory starts going at the beginning of the play, she gets diagnosed with dementia and by the end, she is in a vegetative state.
In the play, Doris goes through all 7 stages of dementia.
