The Art of the Picture Book – Dorien Brouwers

The Art of the Picture Book features the delightful work of artist Dorien Brouwers.
Dorien was born and raised in the Netherlands before moving to the UK, where she earned a First-Class BA (Hons) in Graphic Design. She later settled in London, collaborating with clients such as the Prado Museum (Spain), Tate Modern (UK), and Pearson FT Publishing.
Her journey into writing and illustrating picture books began as a gift for her son. Since then, her work has been published by leading international publishers, including Hachette and Penguin.
Her picture book Sail garnered recognition in the form of a World Illustration Award and was shortlisted for the prestigious Bologna Illustrators Exhibition.
Dorien primarily works in watercolour and ink, creating artwork known for its rich texture, intricate detail, and distinctive style.
The exhibition will be on display until Saturday 6 September and provides the inspiration for our summer Start with Art event for families and more.
