Coffee in Berlin: Berlin Art House Cinema at its best

Stuck in a rut of bad luck, a college dropout wanders around the streets of Berlin, crossing paths with a slew of eccentric characters. Jan Ole Gerster's debut feature film “A Coffee in Berlin” (2012, 86 min, originally titled “Oh Boy”) takes the audience on a young man's search for meaning – and an ever elusive cup of plain, black brew.

It’s a somber tale told with jazz, blues, black and white photography, and an incredible performance from Tom Schilling. There is a lot of truth to A Coffee in Berlin. There is a lot of humor too. We suppose that’s life.
