Guns, Gays & Theys - Concealed Carry Certification Class

Join us for a two-day Concealed Carry Certification Class designed specifically for LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies who want to take proactive steps toward personal safety and responsible firearm ownership. This welcoming, judgment-free course will be held at the Boondocks Gun Club in Rochester, IL.

Participants who successfully complete this class will meet the training requirements to apply for an Illinois Concealed Carry License (CCL). Please note: In addition to the $150 class fee, there is a separate $150 fee paid directly to the state when applying for the permit.

Before registering, we strongly encourage all participants to carefully review the state’s eligibility requirements to ensure you qualify for a Concealed Carry License. You can find detailed information about qualifications, restrictions, and the application process on the Illinois State Police website.

This class is open to all skill levels—from beginners to experienced firearm owners—who want to gain knowledge, confidence, and certification in a supportive environment.

Important Information To Review:
- If you do not have your own gun, the range can provide one at no cost to you, but you will have to cover the cost of ammo (about $10 for a 22 or about $40 for a 9 mm).

- This class will provide your concealed carry certificate. You will need to apply for your permit through the state. The cost is an additional $150 and you must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Have a valid FOID
- Have not been found guilty or or found guilty of a misdemeanor involving the threat of physical force or violence to any person within the past 5 years.
- Not have 2 or more violations related to driving while under the influence of alcohol, other drugs, intoxicating compounds within the past 5 years.
- Not be subject to a pending arrest warrant, prosecution or proceeding for an offense or action that could lead to disqualification to own or possess a firearm.
- Have not been in a residential or court-ordered treatment for alcoholism, alcohol detoxification, or drug treatment within the past 5 years.
- Not objections are filed by law enforcement.
What you need to have when applying for your permit:
16 hours of Concealed Carry firearms training provided by an ISP approved Instructor.
- Electronic Copy of my training certificate(s). You will be required to upload your electronic certificate during the application process.
- An Illinois State Police User ID and Password
- A Valid Driver’s License or State Identification card.
- A valid FOID card unless in the process of getting a valid FOID card.
- A head and shoulder electronic photograph taken within the last 30 days.
- Be able to provide the last ten years of residency.
- Fingerprints – Electronic fingerprints will expedite your application! Specify to the Live Scan vendor that your fingerprint application is for the Concealed Carry application (ORI = IL920707Z, Purpose Code = CCW). NOTE: Applicants will be assigned a transaction control number (TCN) at the time of fingerprinting and will be required to retain that TCN to complete the application.
- $150.00 payable with a credit card or electronic check.
