The Greencastle Summer Music Festival will fuse food and music with a special experience this Sunday, June 29 at 8 p.m. at Gobin Church.

Soprano Janani Sridhar will be joined by pianist Claudia Santana Nuñez and cellist Eric Edberg as “Love Through Time” takes guests on a journey through song and time, with music ranging from early Italian works to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Richard Strauss, Roger Quilter, and Margaret Bonds.

Each piece offers unique reflections on what it means to experience different kinds of love and to be immersed in the human experience.

“If you know me, you know my recitals always come with a twist, and this one is no exception,” Janani said. “Though the repertoire may seem more traditional, we are reimagining it in unexpected ways, like pairing the Italian set with cello.”

In collaboration with The Whisk and Chef Kate Kissel of The Doc and the Dandelion, the performance will be accompanied by expertly crafted small bites for a multisensory experience that recalls love’s many facets.

What does it mean to experience love? For Chef Kate, it means being flambéed, sliced raw, sweetened with the finest honey, and numbed with a mouthful of spice. The potential menu includes:

● Melon, tomato ice, and prosciutto;
● Crispy belly bites with spices, honey fig, and nasturtium;
● Grilled beef heart tartare and celery hearts with Sichuan chili; and
● Cheese flambé with rose jam and saffron fritole

The concert itself is free and open to the community. The ticket price for the food component is $30. A limited number of seats are available. Reservations may be made to Chef Kate at ZG9jc2lubmtlZXBlciB8IGdtYWlsICEgY29t.
