The Capitol presents this year's DRIVE-IN DOUBLE FEATURE! This indoor event offers an exciting evening of nostalgic entertainment inspired by the drive-in theater experience.

First-up, THE WAR OF THE WORLDS (Paramount, 1953; Technicolor; digital restoration from Paramount Pictures). This extraordinary adaptation of the novel by H.G. Wells follows scientist Clayton Forrester (Gene Barry) and Sylvia Van Buren (Ann Robinson), who are the first to arrive at the site of a meteorite crash. Soon after, an alien war machine emerges and begins killing at random, sparking a global invasion.

Second on the bill is THE QUATERMASS XPERIMENT (aka, THE CREEPING UNKNOWN) (1955; 35mm film print from Park Circus). In this film from the famous Hammer studio, an astronaut (Richard Wordsworth) returns to Earth after an experimental space flight afflicted by a strange fungus that transforms him into a murderous monster. After bullets and bombs fail to stop the creature, brilliant scientist Professor Quatermass (Brian Donlevy) becomes mankind's last hope of survival.

Before the show and during intermission, enjoy a drive-in style meal (cookout outside the Capitol by superofficial) and drive-in snipes on the screen - a real 1950's drive-in movie experience!

Special ticket prices: $5 for adults, $3 for children 12 and under, FREE for Capitol Friends.
