NYS DMV 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course
*You must bring your Learner's Permit with you.*
Course Fee: $45 per person

This is a DMV-approved, standardized course that provides the knowledge you will need as a new driver. This course is in a classroom setting and will not give you hands-on driving instruction.
There are many essential topics covered, including:
-Driving within the highway transportation system
-Driver habits and skills
-Feelings, attitudes, and risk-taking
-Alcohol, other drugs, and driving
When you complete the classroom Pre-Licensing Course, you will be given a Pre-licensing Course Certificate (MV-278). Unless you have taken the Online Pre-Licensing Course, you must have one of these certificates to schedule your road test. You must bring the original certificate to turn in to the license examiner.
Please note that certificates are only valid for one (1) year. Once they have expired, you must retake the course.
The location for this is in the Meeting Room of the James R. Thomson Center for Business Development. You will find the room at the back of the building where additional parking may be found as well.
Feel free to bring snacks, but please clean up any mess created.
*If you completed a high school or college Driver Education course, you would have received a Student Certificate of Completion (MV-285), and you do not need a Pre-licensing Course Certificate (MV-278).
