Join us to watch an exciting demonstration of Buhurt, a full contact armored combat sport by the Green Mountain Hermits, a section of Vermont Armored Combat.
Vermont Armored Combat takes part in an international combat sport called Buhurt. Defined as Armored Mixed Martial Arts (AMMA). The sport has existed for 20+ years. Competitors put on armor that would make you think of knights from medieval times. They get into a fighting arena called a Lyst, with blunted steel weapons. Competitors then fight one another, similar to boxing, where there are a set number of timed rounds. At the end of the timed rounds, a winner is announced. There are multiple types of combat to be had, such as duels and pro-fights that are one fighter vs another, and Melees, where groups of fighters fight each other at the same time.
Vermont Armored Combat has existed since the beginning of 2022. Over the years, we have gathered together 10 members with full steel kits, and over 15 total members. Our group takes in many who come with no combat experience at all, just to build them up and help each fighter move towards their own personal goals within the competitions we take part in. We celebrate diversity and push back against ideologies of exclusion and oppression within society.
