Free Mix CDs and stickers for earlybirds!
In the small New England town of Charlestown, the local mill is about to lay off 10,000 workers. The town’s minor league hockey team, the Charlestown Chiefs, is doing no better. After years of failure, this will be the team’s last season. Paul Newman delivers a hilariously foul-mouthed performance as their exasperated veteran player-coach Reggie Dunlop who gives the franchise a much-needed shot in the arm when he decides to play the club’s recent acquisitions, the deceptively dweeby Hanson brothers, a trio of high-sticking, body-checking goons whose violent style of play quickly wins over the fans and brings back the crowds. But will it be enough to save the franchise? (USA, 1977, 123 mins, R, English | Dir. George Roy Hill)
