We will discover Earth's layers through completing the following standards:
SC.K.N.1.1, SC.1.N.1.2, SC.2.N.1.4, SC.3.N.1.1, SC.4.N.1.1, SC.5.N.1.1 (The Practice of Science): This lesson engages students in asking questions, planning and carrying out investigations (making models), developing explanations, and using models to understand phenomena.
SC.3.E.6.1 (Earth Structures): While not directly "Earth's layers," demonstrating how the sun heats objects and discussing heat flow lays a groundwork for understanding internal Earth processes and thermal energy.
SC.4.E.6.1 (Earth Structures): Identifying categories of rocks lays a foundation for understanding the crust's composition.
SC.5.E.7.1 (Earth Systems and Patterns): Creating a model to explain Earth's parts fosters understanding of Earth as a system.
