Nature Escape: Edible Forest Forage

Step off the beaten path and into the lush, living classroom of the Wetherby Edible Forest, where fruiting plants, healing herbs, and community care all grow together.

Join us for this Nature Escape, an inviting and hands-on experience where neighbors can connect with nature, explore seasonal abundance, and learn how to care for this thriving public food forest. Guided by experienced Nature Educators, we’ll walk the winding paths of Wetherby Park’s edible landscape and discover what’s ripe for the picking.

While harvesting, you will learn simple ways to support the forest’s health throughout the seasons, such as pulling a few weeds, mulching a new plant, or pruning a shrub. Everyone is welcome—no gardening experience needed.

WHAT'S IN SEASON
* Gooseberries: Like little grapes with a zesty tang.
* Elderberry blossoms: Perfect for infusing into floral teas.
* Black currants: Bold and musky, rich in antioxidants.
* Bee balm: The wild herb that can give you tea an Earl Grey zing.
* Lovage: A celery-like plant that elevates any soup or broth.

WHAT'S COMING SOON?
You'll also get a sneak peek at what’s just beginning to ripen: aronia berries, apples, pears, and peaches.
