In the spirit of the 1964 Freedom Schools, established during the Civil Rights Movement, this program will immerse students in history, civic responsibility, social justice, activism, and leadership. The goal is to inspire a new generation of youth to take action for change while gaining a deep understanding of the historical struggles for civil rights, equality, and freedom. The program will focus on empowering students through education, skill-building, and art, fostering a sense of solidarity and justice.
This program is designed for students entering 6th-8th grades.
July 14 - 18, 9:00 AM -12:00 PM.
Cost: $200. If cost precludes you from participating, we have a limited number of scholarships available. Please indicate your interest a scholarship in the registration form. If you are interested in sponsoring a student, contact Emily via blackiowa.org/staff.
