A recital featuring soprano and EGSOD president, Marla Fogderud, and artist-in-residence, pianist Oda Voltersvik, in celebration of the bicentennial anniversary of the first Norwegian Settlers in America and the continued cultural bonds between Norway and the United States, including the sister city connection of Fargo, North Dakota, and Hamar, Norway. The opening half will be a tribute to the Midwestern tours undertaken by renowned Norwegian soprano and Hamar native, Kirsten Flagstad (1871-1958), in the 1950s. The second half will portray life of the Norwegian farmers settling the the Midwest and beloved Norwegian Folk traditions with piano solo works by Geir Tveitt. The all-ages concert is free and open to the public with donations gratefully accepted at the door.
