Applied Somatics in Motion

Welcome to an evening of relaxation. Just for you. Just as you are.

Stress, no matter what (or who) is behind it, causes our bodies to react, to unconsciously contract, leading to rigidity in both our muscles and our fascia. Over time, these contractions become repetitive, automatic, our default mode. Are you clenching your jaw, again? Shoulders in you ears, again? Or how about that back of yours, tight again? It can't be just me doing it, or wondering how long I have held that stressed out position before I noticed.

Our bodies store our stress, the emotional reactions we have in response to the world and those in it, the easiest way it can, in itself. Over time, this shapes our muscles, our fascia, and our subconscious, making us rigid on many different levels.

Applied Somatics is a Somatic Awareness practice. It is about becoming aware of your body based stress response. And by learning how to contract and relax your muscles, learning to slow down enough in order to come into contact with the fascia of your body, you will learn how to recognize these unconscious patterns of your body, and release them. It takes time, and repetition, but the goal is that you become so aware that is is almost second nature and can do it while standing in line to buy groceries.

The practice is comprised of three distinct modules of movement sequences:
Pelvic Floor Integration
Somatic Breathflow
Neuro-Myo-Facial Release

Our evening begins with a bit of anatomy, looking a drawings, maybe a skeleton, becoming more familiar with, and learning to visualize the area of the body we are going to work with. Letting see "inside" of yourself.

This is followed by a short inner journey before we move on to soft somatic awareness movement sequences designed to slow your body down enough so that it can release hidden subconscious tensions, feelings and images it has stored in your fascia and muscles, regulating your nervous system.

With a background of good music, we allow our bodies to talk to us, to move and release what they need, and our minds to drift with the rhythm of the music. Seeing the dance, the joy, the freedom.

Being still is also an action, and we end the evening with a Somatic Dreamtime journey, allowing the deeper layers of the subconscious mind (the place which keeps the hidden patterns of behavior, emotions and beliefs alive and kicking) to surface into the conscious where it can be integrated thru the written exercise of the Somatic Dreamtime Protocol.

WHO AM I?
My name is Anna.
I have been a science geek my whole life, I love learning and understanding.

I am a Registered Nurse, a Waldorf Kindergarden teacher, a Family Constellations Facilitator, an Applied Somatics Nervous System Regulation Practitioner, a Transgenerational Therapist, a Circle of Security Facilitator, a lover of our planet and more.

For the last 25 years I have lived my life knowing that we carry the epigenetic memories of our ancestors in our DNA, it gives me hope and warms my heart to see science catching up, giving me words to finally speak my truth. And the space to create my own method for facilitating Family Constellations.

I am a survivor of a hard childhood (which means my nervous systems default switches between fight and flight), a survivor of a near death experience a few years ago where I flipped time and dimensions, love to dance, have an award winning garden, talk to bugs, love to blow big bubbles and so so much more.

You know, because life is good. Welcome.
