Geoff's Jazz: Hannah James Standards Trio

HJST is an unapologetic love letter to the jazz piano trio.
Rooted in deep connection and shared history, the group delivers an energised mix of original works and bold reinterpretations of classic standards—drawing inspiration from piano trio giants like McCoy Tyner, Oscar Peterson, Cedar Walton, Brad Mehldau, Keith Jarrett, and The Bad Plus.
Hannah James is a proud former Canberran, now an established bandleader, composer, session musician, and lecturer based in Sydney. Adrian Keevil is a pianist known for his refined touch, deep swing feel, and rich harmonic sensibility rooted in the jazz tradition. Paul Derricott is a drummer, composer, producer, and session powerhouse—equally at home on the jazz stage or in front of thousands with major touring acts.
Together, they form the rhythm section of the acclaimed New Orleans outfit The Crawfish Po’ Boys, and individually, they’ve performed alongside artists including Don Burrows, Kevin Hunt, James Muller, Christine Jensen (CAN), Lakecia Benjamin (USA), Sean Wayland, Katie Noonan, Shannon Noll, and The Beautiful Girls.
This project is a celebration of the piano trio in all its dynamic, expressive, and joyfully swinging glory.
