In the Spirit of Jesus: Flip Some Tables
This Sunday, Ken Mandile will take a fresh look at what it means to covenant and to live “in the spirit of Jesus”—not the softly lit, lamb-hugging Jesus, but the bold truth-teller who challenged power, broke rules for love, and called for us to wake up and do the work. Following Jesus isn’t about believing the right things—it’s about doing the right things, even when it’s hard, unpopular, or inconvenient. With a detour to a Vietnamese religion that counts Shakespeare, Julius Caesar, and Victor Hugo among its saints, Ken invites you to honor the prophetic troublemakers of every era—and maybe become one yourself.
Service Music: We are delighted to be welcoming back Matthew Johnsen, Music Director at UUCW, to our sanctuary to play a piece of his own composition, as well as pieces by American composer Peter Ostruschko.
