Join VAP for afternoon tea, snacks, and chatting about books.
This book club is a public event hosted at a public library. Even if you are not a member of VAP, you are welcome to attend.
The book for July is Half-Built Garden by Ruthanna Emrys.
-from the blurb on bookshop.org:
"On a warm March night in 2083, Judy Wallach-Stevens wakes to a warning of unknown pollutants in the Chesapeake Bay. She heads out to check what she expects to be a false alarm—and stumbles upon the first alien visitors to Earth. These aliens have crossed the galaxy to save humanity, convinced that the people of Earth must leave their ecologically-ravaged planet behind and join them among the stars. And if humanity doesn't agree, they may need to be saved by force."
If you haven't finished the book or don't even want to read it, but you still want to attend the event, you are absolutely welcome. Feel free to bring a snack to share!
Many events hosted by VAP are kid-friendly. However, we cannot promise that the discussions that take place during the book club will be appropriate for all ages.
