Join us for our bi-weekly CommUNITY Market! This week's market will be from 1-4pm and will be followed by a Celebration of Life for Rockameem Bell from 4-6pm.
You can purchase food from 1-4pm from Sweets by Sweet and fresh produce from the Badger Rock Farm Stand.
Then join us from 4-6pm for a Celebration of Life for Rockameem Bell. Rock is well known for being our community drummer and for his wisdom and support of many of us in Madison. He taught and mentored many drummers and others in the community. A graduate of the UW Odyssey Program, Rock was a prolific writer and artist. If you have been touched by Rock, please come and bring your drum, a poem or a story to share. We will have a community art project lead by Paisley.
Drummer, Elmore Lawson, will lead a drum circle that will take place from 4:30 - 6pm and everyone is invited to participate. Please bring your own instrument.
Rockameem always wanted to have a White Party, so we encourage you to wear white in his honor if you choose. If you know Rock, you know he spoke about not eating any white food for health reasons, it was one of his many suggestions for healthy living. Yet, he felt that white parties were a way to celebrate the unity and the beauty of the Black community that he championed. Rockameem also loved to wear scarves, so add a dash of color to your fit by donning a flashy scarf!
