Doors 7p // 8p Music
BYOB + <3
Songs of Experience, with a captivating set of 18 songs that blend chamber music, jazz, and folkloric elements. These songs are vignettes—individual stories that together create an arc of diverse but interconnected images and lyrics. Most of the lyrics are original, with some settings inspired by poems from Ovid, Keats, Blake, and Lear.
For this performance, Dan Dutton will sing and play piano, accompanied by Brent Olds on bass and Gay Begly on bass clarinet and Bb clarinet. Alongside the music, a series of paintings keyed to the songs will be exhibited, reflecting the artist’s ongoing fusion of musical and visual art, storytelling, and imagery. Songs of Experience represents the latest evolution of these creative explorations.
