Physical Acting Fundamentals: Neutral Mask

Every actor carries a singular face but several masks. From the iconic commedia mask to the psychological mask, actor training centers on creating larger than life characters, but what about the mask under the mask? In this workshop, actors will work on revealing the neutral body using neutral masking. Actors will explore true neutrality; improv imagined space and learn true ensemble through the pedagogic methods used in the first-year practice of Lecoq actor training.
Your instructor:
Christian Boudreaux (he/they) is an adjunct professor at KU teaching movement and stage combat. Their training is in the Lecoq and Labon movement schools and they have worked in physical theatre in KC for 5 years. In addition to teaching and performing, Christian is pursuing their MA at KU researching the intersections of physical theatre and dance. Christian's most recent work was on KU’s production of Pippin as the Movement and Fight Director. Catch Christian’s next production Re:Post Theatre at the KC Fringe this summer where they are merging traditional larval masking and realist theatre.
