City Winery St. Louis presents Rolling Thunder Revue 50th Anniversary live on September 6th at 7:30pm!
Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Bob Dylan's iconic Rolling Thunder Revue tour with some of St. Louis' best musicians and Dylan fans. Nodding to the Rolling Thunder ethos of revolving musicians, songs, and stories, Adam Gaffney and the Balladeers, Austin Jones, and Karen Choi will share the stage to tribute to the Rolling Thunder players themselves; Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Roger McGuinn, and more. Don't miss out!
Adam Gaffney is a prolific songwriter out of St. Louis, MO. Since the beginning of his solo musical career in 2015, he has released three EP’s such as Adam Gaffney (2020), Old Songs (2022), and Songs in G “Live at Tick Tock Tavern” (2023) which was followed by his debut album, Golden Country (2023). Recently, Gaffney made his debut performance at the 2023 Newport Folk Festival alongside fellow artists Jason Isbell, Goose, My Morning Jacket and Willi Carlisle among many others. Gaffney's guitar work, personal lyrics, and signature blend of vocals and harmonica define his long career in the St. Louis music scene.
Austin Jones is an Americana musician, through-and-through. Raised in St. Louis, Austin found himself immersed in and inspired by the city’s rich musical history, merging classic blues and folk traditions with modern approaches. After years of performing with his band, The Bootheel Boys, Austin is back in the city that created him and ready to share his new sound. Aarik Danielsen from the Columbia Tribune notes that Austin's songs "deftly blends myth and muck, romance and lovesickness, awe and pity — and it does so sounding like a conversation with an old friend by the glowing light of a couple cigarettes. Keeping up with the rambling Jones and his boys turns out to be a trip worth taking."
“Karen Choi is every bit the Americana traditionalist. Her work is brimming with dusty tales of human encounters both fulfilling and damaging, all rooted in a strong sense of place” -Hear Nebraska Karen Choi is a singer/songwriter living in the American midwest. She was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska where she was introduced to roots music at a young age through her father’s involvement in a local bluegrass band. She first picked up her dad’s Martin acoustic when she was thirteen years old. Since then songwriting became a means of channeling the stories of everyday life and encounters with others along the way. Rooted in the Americana tradition, Choi’s music explores the common human experience from a rich lyrical perspective. Over the last few years, Karen has supported acts such as Son Volt, Courtney Marie Andrews and Heartless Bastards.
