Berkshire Bach presents Cleveland Orchestra cellist DANE JOHANSEN at 5pm on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 29 Main Street, Stockbridge, MA. The program includes BACH'S SUITE FOR SOLO CELLO No. 6 in D Major, BWV 1012, BENJAMIN BRITTEN's SUITE No. 1 for Solo Cello, Op. 72, written for Russian cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, and GASPAR CASSADÓ'S post-romantic and lyrical SUITE FOR CELLO, written in the early 20th century. Three different takes on a simple idea, and a ravishing end to our season by a gifted musician. A member of the Cleveland Orchestra since 2016, Johansen was featured in the film STRANGERS ON THE EARTH that opened Berkshire Bach's season and chronicled his nearly 600-mile trek in 2014 following the Camino de Santiago, the ancient pilgrimage route from France to Spain, with his cello on his back and stops in churches along the way to play Bach Cello Suites. Come hear a fascinating program played by a superb artist in the beautiful sanctuary of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Stockbridge.
