Mini-Zine Making Workshop with Karyn Gallion

No drawing skills required. Seriously. Join us for a 3-hour dive into the wonderfully wonky world of zines—DIY mini-books made for storytelling, experimenting, and saying the things that don’t quite fit anywhere else. Whether you're a scribbler, daydreamer, note hoarder, or someone who just wants to make something with your hands, this workshop will walk you through the basics of zine formats, layout tricks, and how to kick perfectionism to the curb. We’ll warm up with silly drawing exercises (think: “draw a turtle in a rocket ship in 10 seconds” or “give your inner critic a name and tiny shoes”), then jump into making your very own zine using prompts designed to get your ideas flowing—no art degree required. You’ll leave with: A zine you made (or started!) by hand Easy templates and folding tricks A head full of ideas and a heart full of glue stick residue The itch to make more We provide: All the supplies (paper, pens, scissors, collage materials, etc.), good vibes, and an environment where weird is welcome. Perfect for: Writers, visual thinkers, journal lovers, first-time zinesters, and anyone who needs a creative reset. What to bring: Just yourself. And maybe a snack. Zine-making burns creative calories.
